Featured Work From a Follower of The NYC Mind * Connecticut *
from the series: “NY Rollerbladers”
My name is Ryan Loewy, I am a 24 year old photographer that specializes in portraiture.
In the fall of 2011, in an attempt to get better acquainted with the NY rollerblading community, I began making diptych photographs of rollerbladers that frequented Manhattan. From this body of work, I learned that it isn’t one good skater or skate company or media site that makes a scene great, but rather all the individuals that are involved in that scene. I plan on continuing this series and documenting other regions of New York to show the true numbers that lie within one of the great scenes in rollerblading.

An extended look at NY Rollerbladers and where the series is headed.
Sam DeAngelis 6 & 1/2 Years East Hanover, NJ I’ve known Sam for almost 3 years now. I remember one of my first encounters with him was at Tri State Skate, and, in common rollerblading tradition, he was friendly right off the bat. I remember, at that time, he was just getting into photography, but already picking it up quite quickly, particularly his work strobe-work, specifically, shooting at Drop In Skate Park (located underneath TSS, a park that is very difficult to light). Sam has progressed quite well with his photography, and in addition to that, has taken quite a path in videography as well. He is constantly putting out content, whether it be photo or video, for the NY/NJ scene and it is always prime stuff. He just put together a phenomenal Tri State Skate team edit along with Bobby Reichel, which you can view here.
